Welcome to the official HARPG Project development site!

HARPG is a slowly-developing game project about...well, as you can guess, harpies. (...and lots and lots of other monmusu characters that we couldn't fit into the title. We just thought HARPG was catchy.) HARPG is a 2D turn-based RPG following the exploits of a harpy protagonist. There will be lots of concentration on super cute monster girls, but also an interesting combat system, which is something we felt MGQ was lacking. The feel of the game is sci-fi/fantasy hybrid, with a “tech” looking main menu/HUD and settings ranging from rural medieval villages and dungeons to technopolis Tron-esque advanced technology. The world of HARPG is a fantasy world with varying technology levels. There is a huge racial knowledge gap, so some monster races are still in medieval settings, while others have technological knowledge that surpasses current earth. This “world” is actually its own dimension, and is not a planet, but rather an endless spherical loop, if you reach the end of the world, you warp to the other side of it; there is an actual end to the sky above, because it’s just an emulated sky created with rules in this dimension. As such, “magic” and “technology” are the same thing, because both are just bending or adjusting the rules the dimension has set in place. The Dimension was created by the dragons after they fled our world, deeming that life with humans at their stage of social and physical evolution would be impossible. They left, planning on creating a stable pocket dimension which they could in the future abandon or travel from when the real Earth was ready for coexistence, but grossly miscalculated their crap and ended up only creating a infinite area which needed to be constantly kept open, which is where the 13 (?) “levels” come from - 2 primary towers, and 11 failsafes/relays to spread the magic throughout the world and keep the flow of magic steady. After several millennia for us, tens of thousands of years for them, Humans did something really friggin stupid (cough nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki cough though we’ll never tell the viewer that), which sorta cracked a hole between the worlds, bringing humans over to the new dimension (the combined force of atomic energy and loss of life blah blah pseudoscience). With the introduction of humans and the already existing magic  from the dragons, monsters were created through a mix of rapid evolution and human crossbreeding. This lasted for several thousand years, ‘causing nations within the continents to flourish among the different races, most prominently being The Tauric Nation (Centaurs and Minotaurs modeled after celtic/british culture respectively), Dragons (pmuch the elves of the game EDITIOR NOTE: Hilarious, Tarby.), Lamias (Roman, with the Naga subculture based on their Egyptian Mythos.), Harpies (Mountainous Native-American-type culture.) (and Mermaids (similar to Dragons, with similar ancestors, but a much more proud and grand race.), with many other smaller cultures scattered throughout. (Succubi, Kitsune, catgirls, doggirls, dryads, faeries etc.) (the latter were maybe once human, but they changed and evolved after extensive exposure to certain kinds of magic.) That sums up a bit about the game for our front page, and we will also be posting updates and screenshots of development, concept work, and more!
